Evacuation System for Transformers

Home / Our Products/  Evacuation System for Transformers

Sumesh Petroleum Pvt. Ltd. provides an Evacuation System for Transformers designed for evacuating transformer tanks during transformer manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. The system uses a combination of a vacuum pump and a Roots mechanical booster pump to create the vacuum required before transformer oil filling. The capacity of the system varies according to the size and capacity of the transformers being installed. Each section of the machine is constructed using high-quality materials to support reliable operation and long-term industrial use.

Design and Construction of Transformer Evacuation System

The transformer pumping system is suitable for the evacuation of transformer tanks. The plant is portable and mounted on four castor wheels, with lifting hooks and towing facilities for convenient handling and movement. It is suitable for outdoor use. Proper safety guarding arrangements are provided on all parts that may cause accidents during operation. The plant is designed so that individual components can be easily replaced when required, simplifying maintenance and servicing.

The plant comprises a Roots rotary combination of a highly efficient vacuum pump and Roots mechanical booster pump, along with the necessary accessories to perform the complete evacuation of a transformer tank. This configuration supports the vacuum preparation process before insulating oil filling, subject to the vacuum requirements of the transformer manufacturer.

Accessories of the Transformer Vacuum Evacuation System

The standard accessories include:

  1. Mercury-Type Vacuum Gauge (McLeod Type): Provided for vacuum measurement.

  2. Bourdon-Type Vacuum Gauge: A vacuum gauge with a range of 0–760 mm Hg.

  3. Vacuum Switch: Provided for vacuum-related switching and control.

  4. Piping: Fabricated mild steel tubing with flanged joints and nitrile rubber ring seals.

  5. Valves and Moisture Trap: Vacuum valves, bellows valves, an airing valve, and a moisture trap, along with associated fittings.

  6. Electrical Control Panel: A CRCA sheet enclosure housing electrical control gear, mains isolation, starters, contactors, pilot lamps, push buttons, relays, indicating lamps, metering, and interlocking arrangements. A mimic diagram with indicating lamps is provided on the control panel. Wiring is neatly routed, and all wire terminations are suitably identified using ferrules.

  7. Power Supply: Suitable for operation on a 415 V, three-phase, four-wire, 50 Hz AC supply.

Optional Accessory

Digital Pirani Gauge: A digital Pirani gauge is available as an optional accessory for vacuum measurement and monitoring. Buyers can discuss their vacuum measurement requirements when specifying the equipment configuration.

How to Select the Right Evacuation System for Transformers

Choosing a suitable transformer evacuation system depends on transformer tank volume, required vacuum level, pumping capacity, and operating conditions. Transformer manufacturers, electrical equipment manufacturers, power utilities, and transformer servicing companies should confirm these requirements before selecting a system.

When evaluating a transformer vacuum pumping system, buyers should consider the pump configuration, vacuum measurement instruments, control panel arrangement, mobility, outdoor suitability, and maintenance requirements. These factors help determine whether the equipment is appropriate for the intended transformer installation or servicing application.
